How To Start on Pinterest: What You Need to Do Before Pinning
After you start a Pinterest account, there are a few things you should do before you begin pinning your own content. These things will help you see better results, such as more impressions, saves, and clicks.
1. Prepare Your Pinterest account
Begin by pinning high-quality content made by others to the boards you are going to use for your business. Having all those great pins connected to your account will attract people who are likely to be interested in your content. This will start gaining you more followers.
2. Add Share and Save Buttons to Your Website
The share button provides social proof — it shows how popular a piece of content is and how many people shared it. When deciding where to place share buttons, avoid being spammy and make sure they don’t interfere with your ads.
The save button enables readers to share your content with their audience on Pinterest. Every single picture you have in your blog posts should have this button to make it easier for your readers to engage in Pinterest sharing. This will help you a lot. For instance, you will see more repins on your pins. And the more repinned your content has, the higher it will rank.
3. Add Alt Tags and Meta Tags to All Your Posts
This process can be time-consuming, especially if you already have many posts, but it will make a big difference to keyword rankings. This is because when other people save your content to Pinterest, the content will already have a description, populated from the alt tags.
In contrast, if people save pins from your site that lack alt tags, the description will be empty. Empty descriptions stop Pinterest from being able to categorize your pins, meaning the chance that such pins will appear in search results is lower.
4. Add the “Follow Me” Pinterest button
Make it easier for people who want to follow you — add a “Follow Me” button clearly visible in the sidebar on your website. There is a way higher chance that someone will follow you when this button is visible than if they have to log into Pinterest and find you while they are reading your blog post.

Save to Pinterest

Hi, my name is Joanna, I started all the stuff I care about.com blog in Jan 2017. I created posts about beauty, fashion, travel, rabbits, money blogging ect. Simply put: all the stuff I care about. After 10 months I realized my blog is not getting enough traffic so I dived into research. Till Oct 2017 I only had around 700 visitors on my blog per month. Then I implemented my Pinterest strategy and automated my pinning with my own build tool – PinMeApp. In Nov 2017 I got 3300 page views and then in Dec 2017 8500. That is how my app was born: PinMeApp. I wanted to help others grow traffic to their sites as well. Today I offer subscription for my app, but I also teach people my Pinterest strategy, step by step what I did to grow the traffic so fast, so that my blog is now getting around 20k page views each month. I also offer Pinterest Management and implement my strategy for brands who want to reach their audience on Pinterest as well. My Pinterest account reaches over 5m people monthly. If you want such results feel free to contact me. Cheers, Joanna
